چکیده

Abstract Background Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a frequent complication of COVID-19, so that the importance adequate in-hospital thromboprophylaxis in patients hospitalized with COVID-19 well established. However, incidence VTE after discharge and whether postdischarge beneficial safe are unclear. In this prospective observational single-center study, we report 6 weeks hospitalization use thromboprophylaxis. Methods Patients confirmed were invited to multidisciplinary follow-up clinic discharge. D-dimer C-reactive protein measured, all screened for deep vein thrombosis venous duplex-ultrasound. Additionally, selected high-risk received computed tomography pulmonary angiogram or ventilation–perfusion (V/Q) scan screen incidental embolism. Results Of 485 consecutive from March through June 2020, 146 analyzed, which 39% had been admitted intensive care unit (ICU). Postdischarge was prescribed 28% patients, but used more frequently ICU stay (61%) higher maximal levels during hospitalization. Six discharge, elevated values present 32% ward 42% patients. Only one asymptomatic (0.7%) symptomatic embolism diagnosed systematic screening. No bleedings reported. Conclusion who screening revealed low VTE. A strategy selectively providing seems potentially effective.

Triggers of hospitalization for venous thromboembolism.

BACKGROUND The rate of hospitalization for venous thromboembolism (VTE) is increasing in the United States. Although predictors of hospital-acquired VTE are well-known, triggers of VTE before hospitalization are not as clearly defined. The objective of this study was to evaluate triggers of hospitalization for VTE. METHODS AND RESULTS A case-crossover study was conducted. Subjects were partic...

Anticoagulation after venous thromboembolism

Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism are two manifestations of the same disease, namely venous thromboembolism (VTE). Venous thromboembolism is a common disease with an annual incidence of 1–2 per 1000 person and a high short-term mortality rate of about 25% (1–3). A serious complication of VTE is recurrence, which is fatal in 3.6% to 10% of patients (4–6). In the majority of the patient...

Venous thromboembolism after acute stroke.

BACKGROUND Treatment for venous thromboembolism (VTE) is highly effective in preventing morbidity and mortality, yet pulmonary embolism (PE) accounts for up to 25% of early deaths after stroke. This is because the current diagnostic paradigm is reactive rather than proactive: the clinician responds to VTE when it becomes symptomatic, in the expectation that initiation of treatment will prevent ...
